A client in Dallas told me my SOW was too vague, now I list every single deliverable
She pointed out my scope just said "website updates" with no limit, which scared her off from signing. Now I put exact page counts and revision limits in writing, and has anyone else had this kind of feedback change how they price a job?
Two years ago I would've told you exact page counts and revision limits just box you in and make clients nitpick every little thing. Then I lost a $4,800 project in Austin because my scope said "ongoing support" and the guy said it felt like a blank check. That one stung enough to change my mind. Now I spell out things like max 5 pages and 2 rounds of edits, and honestly the jobs go smoother because nobody is guessing what's included. It also made me price better since I know what I'm actually doing before I quote it. Funny how the feedback that stings the most is usually the one you needed to hear.
