A client in Seattle told me my contract was 'too vague' after a scope dispute.

I rewrote it to list every single deliverable and payment milestone. Has anyone else had a client use vague wording against them?

My last contract had a clause about "reasonable revisions." The client decided that meant 17 rounds of changes on a logo, including one where they just made the blue a tiny bit sadder. Honestly, I now list the exact number of revision rounds, the file formats, and even the Pantone numbers. It feels like writing a manual for someone who's never seen a computer before.

My lawyer friend told me to add a kill fee after round three. It stops the endless tweaks because suddenly their time has value too. Clients get serious when they see money walking out the door.

Heard about a buddy who got stuck in a "reasonable revisions" loop like @joseph957 mentioned. The client kept asking for tiny changes for months until my friend just stopped answering the emails. A kill fee would have ended that mess way sooner.
