A guy in Phoenix kept saying "we'll figure out the budget later" on every single call
Met him at a coffee shop off Camelback Road back in March to talk about a website build. Every time I brought up my rate he waved his hand and said "we'll figure out the budget later, let's just get the vision right first." After the third meeting I sent a simple proposal with a $2,400 number on it and he went quiet for nine days. When he finally replied he asked if I could "do it for exposure and a cut of future sales." Now I ask for a deposit before the second meeting, no exceptions. What phrases make you walk away on the spot?
