Had a client ghost me after 6 months of steady work, then resurface asking for free revisions

I was doing regular social media posts for a small boutique in Nashville, $500 a month, everything was fine for half a year. Then out of nowhere they stopped responding to my emails and questions about next month's content. I figured they found someone cheaper, no big deal, I moved on to other clients. Six months later I get a text from the owner saying 'hey we're launching a new line can you update the old graphics for free since we already paid you before.' I told her those were separate projects and I'd need a new contract. She got all offended and said I was being greedy. Then I saw on Instagram she had hired her nephew to do the work instead, and the designs were clearly just ripped from Canva templates. Has anyone else had a client try to cash in on old work like that?

And honestly, did she ever explain why she ghosted you in the first place or just jump straight to asking for free updates? That silence for six months says a lot about how she values your time and work. It feels like she thought you'd just be sitting around waiting for her.

Wow, did she actually expect you to work for exposure or something?

Did she make you sign anything that said the work was yours to reuse?
