Question about a client meeting at that new coffee shop on 5th
Guy shows up 20 minutes late, orders the most complicated drink, then says his budget is 'whatever it takes' but can't give a real number. How do you even start a project like that? Anyone else get that weird 'money is no object but also I have no money' vibe?

Maybe he's just nervous and overcompensating. Give him a clear quote and see if he gets serious.

Read an article about this exact thing last week. Said people often talk big when they're unsure of the process. A firm number cuts through the noise. Makes them either commit or show they were never serious. It's a good filter.

Exactly right. I learned this the hard way years ago. People can talk about budgets and ideas forever, but putting a real number in front of them changes the game. It forces a decision. You stop wasting time on dreamers and focus on clients who are ready to move forward. It's the fastest way to know where you stand.

Honestly, @andrew_shah is right. Seen it happen so many times. Tbh, giving a solid number really does sort out the real buyers from the talkers.
