The 10-page spec sheet that hid a total scam

I took a job from a guy named Derek in Phoenix who sent a 10-page spec sheet before we even talked price. Looked real professional with diagrams and everything, but after I did the work he ghosted for 3 months. Turns out the whole spec sheet was copied from a corporate RFP just to make himself look legit. Anyone else had a client who over-documented but under-delivered on payment?

Bet you a dollar that Derek is not his real name.

You know, that "Bet you a dollar that Derek is not his real name" line actually hit me hard. I used to just assume everyone's screen name was their real name, like it never even crossed my mind to question it. But now I'm sitting here thinking about all the people I've chatted with online and realizing I probably don't know half of their real names. It makes total sense too, especially if someone wants to keep their private life separate or just be a little anonymous. I guess I was a bit naive before, but your comment really made me see it differently.

My buddy once spent six months in an online gaming clan convinced he was talking to a guy named "Brad." Turned out "Brad" was a woman named Sarah who just didn't want to deal with weird dudes hitting on her.
