The client who asked for 'unlimited revisions' then got mad I kept sending new stuff

I had a music production client last summer who insisted on a flat rate with 'unlimited revisions' in the contract. After the 8th revision, they finally told me they actually wanted me to stop after the first draft and just polish it once. Has anyone else found that clients who push for unlimited changes are really just testing your boundaries and don't know what they want?

I've noticed this pattern everywhere, not just in work. People ask for the biggest possible option because they're scared of missing out, then realize they actually wanted something smaller and more specific. My friend does this with meal prep kits, keeps signing up for the family plan even though she lives alone, then gets overwhelmed by all the vegetables. It's like people think "unlimited" protects them somehow, but really it just makes everything harder for everyone.

@kimdixon you nailed it with that "unlimited protects them" part. People treat unlimited like some kind of safety net, but really it just traps them into choices they don't need. Your friend with the meal kits is a perfect example, so many people do stuff like that. It's like they think having more options or more stuff will finally make them feel secure, but it just adds more stress. At some point you gotta ask yourself if you're actually using all those vegetables or just letting them rot in the fridge.
