The client who paid too fast actually screwed me over
Last month I had a web design job in Cleveland, $1,500 upfront, no haggling, signed same day. Everyone says fast payers are gold, but this guy paid within 10 minutes of the quote. Turned out he expected daily 2-hour video calls and rewrote the entire copy 4 times after I finished. He kept saying 'you're doing great' while I was basically rebuilding the site from scratch. I put in 80 hours, not the 40 I quoted, because I was too scared to lose a client who paid on time. Has anyone else had a problem with clients who are too eager to hand over cash?

Gonna disagree with you on this one. "Paid within 10 minutes" isnt a red flag, its a green flag that they have money and want to move. The real problem is you quoted 40 hours for what was clearly a 80 hour job. You knew the scope was changing after the first rewrite and you kept saying yes instead of telling him the price goes up. Fast payment just means they take decisions seriously, not that theyre gonna be easy. You let the fear of losing money make you work for free, thats on you, not on the client.
