Warning: Client went from paying in 5 days to 47 after one "small favor"
Back in March this guy asked me to start invoicing his side business through the same account as his main one, and since then his payments slipped from 5 days to 47. Anyone else notice net terms creep right after a client starts mixing projects on one invoice?

The part about invoicing his side business through the same account as his main one is the real red flag here. Once two sets of work are on one bill, he can point at the side stuff and say that's what he's questioning, which buys him weeks. Did you ever get him to spell out in writing which line items he was actually paying for each cycle? If not, that 47 days is just the start.
