Oh wow, I read a whole article about how these labels can really shift buying habits, kind of like what @wendyd26 mentioned with her friend. It's pretty powerful to see the actual numbers laid out like that.

Whoa, that's a wild step. I was just at a fancy market that had the water footprint for heads of lettuce printed right on the little sign. It felt like a lot to take in while just trying to grab a salad kit.

See this popping up everywhere lately. My cereal box now has a carbon score next to the protein count. Feels like soon my morning coffee will come with a guilt disclaimer.

My friend said a sticker with a huge water footprint on some almonds made her feel personally judged by the grocery shelf. She bought the cashews instead.

Used to think these labels were just more noise. Then I saw the water score on a bag of rice from California next to one from Arkansas. The difference was huge, like hundreds of gallons per pound. Made me stop and actually pick the one with the lower footprint for the first time ever. It cuts through the talk and just shows you the numbers.
