Heard a guy at the hardware store say solar panels are just a green tax on middle class people
I was grabbing some 2x4s yesterday and this older guy was telling the cashier that solar is a scam because panels lose efficiency after 10 years and battery backup costs $15k minimum. He wasn't even mad, just completely sure about it. On the other hand my neighbor put panels on his house in Phoenix 6 years ago and says his electric bill went from $220 to $40 a month and he breaks even in year 9. So is solar actually worth it for the average person or is the upfront cost just too steep for most families to ever see a real return?

Wish my electric bill was the only thing getting a tax in my budget right now.

Oh man, I feel this so hard! It really does feel like everything has a hidden tax these days, doesn't it? Like, you budget and budget and something always pops up to grab a little more. Wishing you some breathing room soon, seriously.
