Last Tuesday was the best day for my compost pile in months
I finally got the ratio right after screwing up for like a year. Hit 140 degrees for the first time with a mix of 3 bags of leaves from my neighbor and my kitchen scraps. Has anyone else struggled to keep their pile hot in winter?

Nah, cold composting is way easier and works just fine.

Bro, is it really that serious though? Cold composting takes forever and you gotta wait like a year for dirt that's still got random twigs and seeds in it. Hot composting is maybe a little more work but you get usable soil in like three months and it actually kills weed seeds. I tried the lazy method once and ended up with a pile full of tomato sprouts and moldy avocado pits. Not worth it if you ask me lol.

Cold composting is fine if you keep the pile balanced right and actually stir it sometimes. Nobody wants the tomato sprout surprise, trust me I've been there.
