Made the leap from gas to induction after 14 years of stubbornness

I finally swapped my old gas range for a $1,200 induction cooktop in Portland last spring, mostly because the utility company offered a rebate and I got tired of scrubbing burnt-on splatter. Cooking feels totally different now, faster boiling and no more worrying about the pilot light going out during wind storms. Has anyone else made the switch and found their electricity bill ran higher than they guessed?

Man, that rebate hook got me too last fall and I still dont regret it. But yeah, my bill jumped about 25 bucks a month, which was more than I figured. The real kicker was that my old stove was gas but my water heater and dryer are electric, so the house was already pulling a lot from the grid. Did you check if your rate plan changed after you switched, or are you still on the same tier? Because some utilities secretly bump you to a higher usage bracket and that can mess with your math. Curious if you tracked your kilowatt hours before and after, or just went off the dollar amount.
