My compost bin lid flew off and hit my neighbor's fence

Last Tuesday during that big windstorm in Portland, I was trying to add some kitchen scraps. The second I unlatched it, the wind caught the lid like a sail and sent it flying. It smacked right into the wooden fence between our yards with a loud crack. My neighbor came out, we both stared at the new dent, and then just started laughing. What's the weirdest thing that's gone wrong with your own climate-friendly projects?

Remember when everyone got those rain barrels? Mine tipped over and made a mudslide into my basement.
