My grandmother's trick for saving water finally clicked for me last summer
I grew up watching her collect the cold water from the shower in a bucket before it got hot. Thought it was just old school frugality until I actually did the math during that drought in July. One bucket holds about 3 gallons, and we were wasting maybe 15 gallons a week just letting it run. Used that water for my tomato plants and even washing dishes by hand. Has anyone else picked up a weird old habit that actually made a real difference?

One bucket holds about 3 gallons." Actually most buckets hold 5 gallons.

Makes you wonder why everything in life is slightly bigger or smaller than you'd guess, @garcia.cameron.

Over here thinking I knew bucket sizes and I've been wrong about this my whole life. Guess that's why I'm not in construction.
