PSA: My compost bin got a little too popular with the local wildlife
I started a backyard compost pile in Portland last spring, using a basic wire bin. After about 3 months, I noticed my veggie scraps were disappearing overnight. I set up a cheap trail cam and found a whole family of raccoons having a midnight buffet! They were tossing eggshells everywhere. I learned I need a much sturdier, locking lid to keep the nutrients for my garden, not the neighborhood. Anyone have a good DIY bin design that's truly critter-proof?

Wasn't it more like a raccoon buffet?

Forget raccoons, the rats will unionize.

Wait, you just had a basic wire bin? In Portland? That's basically a raccoon welcome sign.
