Trying to switch my building's heating off gas took way longer than I thought

Started the process in our 12-unit condo in Denver. Thought it would be a simple vote and a contractor. Took 18 months of meetings, getting quotes, and explaining heat pumps to everyone. The hold-up was one owner worried about winter performance. Had to bring in an engineer for a whole building energy audit. Cost us $2,500 just for that report. Anyone else hit a wall like this with a multi-family building?

Sounds about right for condo board hell.

Oh man, @casey268, you hit the nail on the head... ours tried to ban window fans last summer because of the "uniform look." It's like they forget people actually live here and need air. The pettiness is just next level.

Our board once spent 45 minutes debating the color of trash can enclosures. @anna717, that fan rule is the same mindset, where aesthetics completely override livability. They'd rather see us sweat than break their perfect visual theme. It creates such a weird, hostile feeling in your own home.
