Blew $400 on a Renishaw probe and it sat in the box for 6 weeks
Finally set it up on the Haas after a run of 200 parts where I had to stop and touch off every 10th piece by hand, and it paid for itself in two days. Now I feel dumb for waiting so long but also kind of miss walking around the shop. Anyone else buy a probe and fight the urge to just grab an edge finder out of habit?

Man, I did the exact same thing with mine, let it sit for a month before I finally wired it up. What worked for me was leaving the edge finder in my toolbox drawer instead of on the bench, so I had to walk over and dig for it, and after a week or two the probe just became the normal way to do it. Give it another week and you won't even think about reaching for the old one.
