Pro tip: I used to write all my tool offsets on a grease board by the machine.

Back in 2010 at my old job, we had a Haas VF-2 and I'd scribble the numbers down after each setup. Now, with the newer control, I just save everything to the tool library file and it's a total time saver. When did your shop finally make the switch from manual logs to digital tool data?

Oh man, that's a stubbornness tax if I ever saw one.

Remember to back up that tool library file regularly.

Our old shop foreman fought the digital switch until 2015. He insisted on handwritten logs for our three Okuma lathes, claiming it was safer. What finally changed his mind was a new hire entering a worn insert offset wrong from the board, which scrapped a whole run of parts. Was there a specific mistake or cost that finally pushed your management to update their system?

Our backup plan saved us after a similar crash.
