Vent: crashed a $400 rougher into the vise on a Friday afternoon
I was running a batch of 6061 parts on the Haas mill at my shop in Akron and forgot to reset the Z offset after a tool change. The rougher plowed straight into the Kurt vise jaws at 6000 rpm, snapped the tool, and left a nice gouge in the jaw. I hit feed hold right away and shut it down. Ended up scrapping the two parts I had in the fixture and spending the rest of the day tramming the vise back in. Do you guys keep a spare set of soft jaws on hand for stuff like this?
