I spent $90 on a coding bootcamp video that was just a guy reading a free tutorial
Last month I was stuck on JavaScript loops and bought a 'complete guide' video course for ninety bucks. The guy basically just read out loud from the MDN web docs, which are totally free online. I watched the whole three hour thing hoping for some secret tips, but it was just the same basic examples. I felt so dumb for not checking the free stuff first. Now I always look for official docs or free tutorials before I pay for anything. Has anyone else bought a course that was just a rehash of free information? What sites do you trust for real beginner help?

Ugh, that's the worst feeling! I dropped like sixty bucks on a Python course last year that was the same deal, just some guy slowly going over the official Python tutorial you can get for free. The video quality was nice, but the info was basic. It really taught me to check free resources first, like freeCodeCamp or the actual language docs. Now I only pay for a course if I see people saying it has unique projects or goes way deeper than the basics.

Yeah @henryr45, the real cost is the time you can't get back.

Ninety dollars for someone to just read MDN out loud? You sat through three hours of that hoping for a secret?
