Appreciation post: my old drip machine vs. the new pour over setup
I used my basic Mr. Coffee for years, but after trying a friend's Hario V60 in Seattle, I had to switch. The pour over gives me way more control over the brew time and water temp, which makes the coffee taste brighter and less bitter. Has anyone else made a simple switch that felt like a huge upgrade?

That "brighter and less bitter" thing is so true. My buddy switched from a regular kettle to a gooseneck one for his pour over and said it was like unlocking a whole new level. He can't go back now.

Totally get what your buddy means about unlocking a new level! I used a regular spout kettle for ages and my coffee was always a bit harsh. Switching to a gooseneck let me actually control where the water goes. That slower, steady pour saturates all the grounds evenly. It stopped the over-extraction that makes it bitter. The difference in the cup was honestly night and day, way cleaner and sweeter.

All that gear just seems like extra steps for a morning drink. My old auto-drip makes a perfectly fine cup and it's ready when I walk into the kitchen. The whole pour over ritual looks like a hassle you have to be fully awake for first. Sometimes good enough is actually good enough.
