Chose a $35 hand grinder over a $200 electric, no regrets after 4 months
Most folks at the shop told me I was wasting time with the manual one. But at 6am in a quiet kitchen, I actually like the 30 seconds of cranking before the water boils. The grind is more even than the electric one my buddy owns, and I can pack it for camping without a cord. Anyone else go cheap on purpose and end up happier?

The hand grinder gets better the longer you own it too. After a few weeks the burrs settle in and the effort drops, plus no motor noise means you can hear the beans cracking. Just remember to knock the static charge off the catch cup before you open it, or youll wear half your grind. And if you ever upgrade, keep the manual one for travel, its a solid backup.
