Hot take: I was cleaning my burr grinder wrong for two years
I always washed the burrs with soap and water after every second bag of beans. Then last week a buddy who roasts coffee saw me drying them with a towel and said I was probably rusting the inner surfaces. He told me to just brush and vacuum the burrs instead. Has anyone else been scrubbing theirs down with soap this whole time?

Man I once dried a blender blade with a dish towel and the thing caught fire the next day.

And same with @blair_torres70 - I still somehow manage to catch my blender towel on fire like twice a year (you'd think I'd learn by now but nope). At this point I just accept the singed edges as part of the routine.

lol you're definitely not alone. I did the exact same thing for like a year and a half before a barista friend caught me and saved my grinder from certain doom. Now I just hit it with the brush and call it good, way less stress.
