I finally tried the 'third wave' pour over everyone raves about and I'm not sold
Last weekend my buddy took me to this spot in Denver where the barista talked about bean origin for 10 minutes before even grinding. They charged $8 for a cup and honestly my $3 drip at the diner down the street tasted just as good to me. I mean maybe I have a boring palate but the fancy stuff felt more about the ritual than the actual drink. Anyone else feel like the hype is mostly about the show, not the coffee?

Man, you nailed it with the ritual thing. Half the fun for these places is the whole show, the bean talk, the slow pour, the fancy cups, and once you sit down it's just coffee in a mug. Strip all that away and blindfold me and I'd probably pick the diner cup half the time too.
