I just hit 1000 grams of coffee beans used in my grinder
I got a new grinder for my birthday in January (a Baratza Encore, if you're curious) and it has a counter. I hit 1000 grams this morning, which is about 2.2 pounds of coffee. I never thought I'd track something like that, but seeing the number made me realize how much I've been making at home instead of buying out. It's probably saved me a good chunk of change over the last few months, honestly. Has anyone else been surprised by a number their gear tracked?

Ever read that thing about how tracking small stuff makes you more aware? @noahwood is right, it adds up fast.

A thousand grams since January is a serious amount of coffee. That's like a full bag every couple of weeks, right? No wonder you're saving money.

Oh man, that reminds me of something totally random. I remember @jake_sullivan once told me he bought a super cheap blender and it lasted him like 8 years before it finally gave out. So sometimes the cheap stuff works out way better than you'd expect. I actually did the same thing with a coffee grinder a few years ago, the plastic lid cracked after like a month and I ended up just using a hammer to crush beans. Not my finest moment honestly lol. But hey, if you're saving cash on the grinder you can put it toward better beans or something, so it's not the worst tradeoff.
