Just realized I've been using my French press wrong for a decade

My friend in Seattle watched me pour the water and said, 'You're not supposed to stir it for a full minute, you're making it bitter.' What's the right way to do it?

Oh man, I was the same way for years, always gave it a good stir. Then I tried just leaving it completely alone, and the texture was way smoother, no weird graininess. Totally changed how I make it now.
