My 3 PM cup of coffee has me staring at the ceiling until 2 AM
Honestly, I love my afternoon coffee, but it's killing my sleep. Tbh, I had a cup at 3 PM yesterday and couldn't fall asleep until past midnight. Ngl, I'm dragging all day today because of it. It's like my brain won't shut off no matter what I try.

Ugh, that's the worst feeling. What time do you usually cut off caffeine to avoid this?

Oh man, I read somewhere that caffeine has like a six hour half life or something crazy. So basically half that coffee is still in your system around 9 PM, lol. That's why even one cup late in the day can totally wreck you. I've had to make my own cut off time way earlier, like noon at the absolute latest. It's annoying but it's the only thing that works for me.

Actually my night shift coffee habits totally broke this rule for years. Would drink a huge mug at 2 AM just to stay awake, then wonder why I felt awful trying to sleep at 9 in the morning. Took forever to connect the dots that my "morning" coffee was hours too late.

Used to believe coffee never messed with my sleep no matter when I drank it... figured since I felt tired I could just crash. Learning about that long half-life stuff was a real eye opener though, totally changed how I time my last cup. Now if I drink anything after 2 PM I'm basically up until 2 AM staring at the ceiling... had to accept my body just processes it slower than I thought.
