My barista in Seattle said something about my morning routine that stuck with me.
I was getting my usual large black coffee and she asked if I ever tried drinking it from a smaller cup. She said, 'You might taste more if you slow down.' I switched to a small mug the next day and actually noticed the fruity notes in my Ethiopian beans for the first time. I guess I was just gulping it before. Has anyone else had a simple change make that big a difference?

Switched to a French press on weekends and it's like a whole new drink. That barista was onto something.

Tessa gets it, sometimes you just need the black stuff to kick your brain on. My morning mug is basically a utility tool, like grabbing a screwdriver. I'll save the fancy small cup for a lazy Sunday maybe, but Tuesday at 7 AM? Just pour it in the biggest travel mug I own and call it good. The ritual feels nice when you have time, but most days it's just about the function.

It's just coffee, right? We're not doing a wine tasting. I get the idea of slowing down, but sometimes you just need the fuel to start your day. I'm with @tessaw96 on this one. The whole ritual can feel like a lot of extra work for a hot drink. Maybe the bigger cup just means you get to enjoy it for longer anyway.
