My brother said to always preheat my ceramic mug with hot water before pouring coffee
He swore it was the only way to keep the coffee hot longer. I thought it was a waste of water and time, so I ignored him for months. Finally tried it last week with my morning brew, and the coffee stayed noticeably warmer for a solid 15 minutes longer. I feel like an idiot for not listening sooner. Does this actually make a big difference, or is it just a placebo thing?

Yeah, @sean48 is right, and I preheat mine for a full minute.
