My old grinder gave up the ghost right before my Saturday morning cup
It was a basic blade grinder I've had since college, and it just made a sad noise and stopped turning. I had to use pre-ground stuff from the back of the cupboard, which tasted flat. Has anyone else had a grinder die on them and found a good replacement under $100?

Ever thought about checking local thrift stores or estate sales? I found a solid manual burr grinder for like 15 bucks that works better than my old blade one. It takes a bit more effort but the coffee tastes way better, and it'll probably outlive me.

How much effort are we talking?

Honestly it's not bad at all.

Did you ever have a friend who had the exact same thing happen? My buddy's cheap grinder quit on a Sunday, and he was stuck with stale pre-ground too. He ended up getting a simple hand crank burr grinder, and @robin896, the effort is real but it's only about a minute of light work for a pot. The flavor difference shocked him, and now he swears by it. He found a decent one online for around sixty bucks, and it feels like it's built to last forever. That flat taste you mentioned is totally gone with fresh, even grounds.
