Noticed a big shift in how people talk about light roasts at my local meetup
A couple years back, most folks called them 'sour' or 'weak', but after a few cafes started offering free tasting flights, the conversation changed to picking out specific fruit notes. Has your local scene seen a similar change in how people describe their coffee?

Wait, free tasting flights? That's a thing now? The cafes near me would never... they still charge five bucks for a tiny cup of something they call 'experimental'. I'm stuck in a place where light roast still means 'burnt lemon water' to most people.

My local hardware store started doing free weekend workshops on basic home repairs. They give you the tools and show you how to fix a leaky faucet. People come back and actually buy the right parts instead of the wrong ones. It's the same idea, teach someone what good looks like and they'll stop accepting the bad version.

Totally, it's like they had to give people the words for what they were tasting. Once you learn "oh that's a blueberry note" you can't go back to just calling it sour.
