PSA: My friend in Seattle says you should never add cream to a pour-over
Last week at the cafe on 5th Street, she argued it ruins the subtle fruity notes, while I think a tiny splash just smooths out the acidity. Has anyone else had this debate with their coffee crew?

My uncle puts ice cream in his espresso, which is a whole other level of wrong.

I mean is putting ice cream in espresso really that much different from an affogato? That's basically a dessert people pay $12 for at fancy places. Your uncle might be onto something honestly. Idk why everyone acts like coffee has to be this serious ritual when half the time we're just trying to wake up.

Oh man, this is the eternal fight. I read an interview with a roaster who said adding any dairy is like putting ketchup on sushi, it just overpowers everything. But honestly, my Wednesday morning coffee needs a little shield from the bitterness.

That "shield from the bitterness" line is so true. Some days you want to taste the fancy notes, and other days you just need a creamy drink to get through the morning. The coffee snobs can keep their pure espresso.
