Question about the $85 hand grinder I bought at a garage sale in Portland
I grabbed a brass hand grinder from a guy in Portland for $85 because it felt heavy and old. Took it home and the burrs were shot, so it just crushed beans into dust and chunks. Spent another $40 on new burrs and now it beats the $150 electric one I had sitting on my counter. Took me two evenings to get the grind right, but my pour overs finally taste even. Anyone else rehab an old grinder instead of buying new?
