Showerthought: My old drip machine in college made me hate coffee for a year

I was using pre-ground stuff from a can and tap water in a cheap machine. A friend visited, saw my setup, and just said 'no wonder'. Anyone have a simple starter setup that won't scare a beginner off?

That "no wonder" moment is so real. I got a simple pour over cone and a cheap gooseneck kettle, total game changer. Fresh beans from the grocery store grinder made it drinkable.

Remember that awful dorm coffee? I started with a french press and a bag of pre-ground from a local shop, it was so much better right away.

Wait, you were using tap water in a coffee machine? That's the real crime here. The mineral buildup alone would make anything taste awful. A simple filter pitcher is step zero.

Didn't some coffee guy say water is like 98% of the brew or something wild like that? Makes sense that the tap water would wreck it.
