TIL most of the world's coffee is grown in a specific 'bean belt' around the equator

I was reading a book about coffee farming and it said something like 70% of all coffee comes from this narrow band of countries. I always pictured it coming from all over, but apparently the climate has to be just right. Does anyone know if climate change is actually moving this belt around?

That 70% figure is a pretty wild concentration.

Ha, and here I am still killing my succulents. Some farmer I'd make.

Wait, isn't it actually 90 percent?

Doubt it's that big a deal. Plants can adapt, farmers can move crops a bit. Seen articles about new coffee farms popping up in places like Georgia in the US. Probably just another overblown climate talking point.
