TIL my library started hosting coffee tastings
I noticed a flyer for a coffee tasting event at the local library last week. I decided to go and sampled a few different beans side by side. It helped me understand the subtle flavors in each cup. Now I feel more at ease choosing coffee for home. It's a small change that shows how coffee is becoming a shared interest in our community.

Wait, a library does coffee tastings? How does that even work, do they just set up a table in the stacks?

Yeah my local branch does this once a month, they team up with a neighborhood roaster. I tried a bunch of their lighter roasts last time and ended up taking home a bag of their honey-processed one, it was super fruity which I never liked before. Totally changed my mind on what coffee could be.

Man, that's so cool your library does that. I love when public spaces get creative with community stuff. It makes total sense when you think about it, libraries are about learning new things and bringing people together. I get what ruby652 said about light roasts changing your mind, I used to only drink dark roast but trying things side by side like that really opens your eyes. It's a smart way to get people talking and trying something different without any pressure. Have you seen them do tastings for anything else?
