Vent: My brother said my pour over looked like a sad science project

He pointed out I was pouring way too fast, making the coffee taste weak and sour. I slowed it down to a steady stream over 3 minutes and the next cup was way better. What's the one piece of advice that fixed your brew?

Honestly, that whole timed pour thing is overrated. Sometimes a fast pour gets you a brighter, more interesting cup. I've had plenty of good coffee that broke the "rules". Maybe your first cup wasn't weak, it was just different. Not every brew needs to be a slow motion ritual.

@sean48 yeah I get what you're saying. For me, I used to obsess over every detail, like pre-wetting the filter and timing pours to the second. But then I had this one cup from a local shop where the barista just dumped water in fast and let it rip. It was honestly the best coffee I'd had in weeks. I realized I was overthinking it. Now I just go with whatever feels right for the beans and my mood.

My friend Mark learned to pre-wet his filter first.

That pre-wet filter trick is a total game changer for taste.
