Dude at the comic shop told me Siege was a bad starting point, he was right
Last year I wanted to get into Marvel comics for real, not just movies. Guy behind the counter at Cosmic Collectibles in Denver said start with the 2012 Thor run, not Siege. I ignored him, picked up the Siege hardcover for $30. Could not follow half of what was happening. Went back a month later and grabbed the Thor by Jason Aaron stuff. Way easier. Has anyone else gotten bad starter advice from a shop employee that set you back?

Oh man, that's rough. I had a similar thing happen to me but with DC. Back in 2016 I went into this shop near my work and asked for a good Batman starting point. The guy handed me Grant Morrison's Batman run from 2006. I tried, I really did. But it was like reading a puzzle box. All that time travel and weird stuff. I ended up giving up on it for months before someone online told me to just start with "Year One" or Scott Snyder's New 52 stuff.

Wait, they handed you Morrison's Batman as a starting point? That's insane. That run is like advanced calculus for comic readers. You basically got thrown into the deep end with a brick tied to your ankle.
