Had to pick between Silver Age Flash and Bronze Age Green Lantern at the comic show
Found a beat up Flash #123 for $40 and a clean Green Lantern #76 for $60. Only had 80 bucks in my pocket so I grabbed Barry Allen. How did I do on that choice?

Read somewhere that Barry Allen is the reason the whole Silver Age even took off. Flash #123 is a huge deal. $40 for that book is a steal even with the wear. Hal Jordan had some great Bronze Age runs but GL #76 isn't the iconic first appearance or anything. Barry defined the speedster hero for decades. Yeah you made the right call. That comic only goes up in value too.

Nail on the head. That Flash #123 basically kicked off the whole Silver Age craze and there's no arguing Barry's legacy as the blueprint for every speedster after him. You probably saved yourself a headache too, since GL #76 is cool but it's nowhere near that level of importance for the hobby.

Close but Flash #123 came out a bit after the real Silver Age starter. That was Showcase #4 in 1956 with the first Barry Allen. @colegarcia knows the history well though, that book's still a monster pick up for $40.
