Pro tip: Watch out for signings at big cons getting way too crowded

I went to Fan Expo Chicago last weekend and man, the line for Jim Lee's booth was insane. I got there at 8am thinking I'd be early and there were already like 200 people camped out. Security kept saying they'd cap it at 250 but nobody listened. I saw a guy near me get his hardcover bent because someone pushed into him when the crowd surged. The organizers had one tiny rope barrier for a guy who draws for DC and Marvel, you'd think they'd prepare better. By noon they just closed the line and told everyone else to go home. Has anyone else dealt with getting stuck in those crazy artist alley mobs?

At least my crushed ego matched my crushed wallet that day.

Not sure I agree with the "crushed wallet" part honestly. I mean yeah it stings in the moment but that money is just gone either way. Think of it like a lesson fee you paid to learn something important about yourself. Your ego taking a hit is actually the real cost here and that's the part that can actually teach you something. The wallet thing will bounce back next paycheck but that bruised pride? That sticks with you until you figure out what went wrong. So maybe your wallet wasn't the real loser that day. Maybe it was the cheaper part of the deal.

Haha right! Now you've got a perfect matching set of bruises, one for the bank account and one for the pride.
