Pulled out my 30 year old Amazing Spider-Man #300 last night
I dug out my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300 from 1988 that I bought off a spinner rack for like a dollar fifty. The corners are soft and there's a crease down the middle from where I shoved it in my backpack in 7th grade. Anyone else got a beat up key issue they just can't bring themselves to replace?

That book's worth is the memories you've got in it, not the grade on a slab. A copy with a spine tick from real use beats a slabbed 9.8 any day. Just store it in a Mylite bag with a half back board to keep it from getting worse. The crease is part of its story and you'd probably miss it if you swapped it out for a perfect copy.

Wait, you're telling me you actually bought this off a spinner rack back in the day?? That's wild, I thought those things were just for overstock comics nobody wanted. I bet that crease from your backpack adds more character than any pristine copy could ever have.

7th grade me kept that copy in my backpack for three months and @laura_wilson is right, the crease is part of the memory now.
