The first issue here is people arguing that Marvel movies are the same as reading the comics, which just isnt true. I grew up on the old 70s and 80s Marvel books and the movies change a ton of stuff like characters powers and backstories. Calling the movies "comics" is like saying a movie about a book is the same as reading the actual book. They are related but definitely not the same thing. Plus half the people arguing probably havent even picked up a single issue from the last decade lol.

...and honestly that's where people get tripped up. I've had this argument more times than I can count. My advice? If you're debating someone who thinks the movies are the comics, just ask them about a random issue from the 90s. The Infinity Gauntlet in the comics is nothing like the movie version. The comics are way weirder and more detailed, and the movies have to cut stuff to fit a two hour runtime. Your mileage may vary but it's pretty clear to anyone who's actually read the books.

Ask them what issue the movies changed the most from and watch them go blank. I usually hit em with something like how in the comics, Thanos wasn't just some random purple alien but actually had a deep crush on Death personified. That throws most movie-only fans for a loop. If they cant even name one issue from the 80s or 90s that got adapted, theyre just arguing from a trailer and a wiki page.
