That guy at the comic shop said to never bag board silver age books

So there's this older collector who hangs out at my local shop, Comics & More in Austin, and he told me I was ruining my silver age issues by putting them in bags with boards. He said the acid in the boards from the 60s and 70s would eat through the paper over time. I figured he was just gatekeeping or whatever, but I looked it up and apparently he's right for certain press runs. I had a full run of Amazing Spider-Man from 1966 that I bagged and boarded three years ago, and when I checked them last weekend, two of them had slight browning along the spine. Now I'm going through my whole long box and pulling everything from that era to store them in mylar sleeves with acid-free backing only. Has anyone else dealt with this or am I just being paranoid about old advice?

Whoa, two of them already browned? That's rough.

Yeah I've been there. Easiest fix is to check the soil moisture more often, if it's drying out too fast they'll brown up quick.
