That guy at the comic shop who gatekeeps Silver Age issues
I was at Cosmic Comics in Portland flipping through some old X-Men books when this dude in his 40s walks up and tells me I'm holding issue 14 wrong because my fingers are on the cover. He said I should only touch the staples. I get protecting rare books but come on, I was just looking at it for 30 seconds. I asked him if he works there and he said no, he just hangs out to make sure people don't damage the stock. Has anyone else run into these volunteer hall monitors at their LCS?

nah man that's wild. i had some old timer at my shop in chicago tell me i was breathing too hard near a new mutants 98. like dude i'm just excited to find it in good shape. these guys act like they own the place.

@shane_wilson makes a good point about ownership. 34th and Hawthorne had a guy who would re-shelve books if you looked at them too long. He even had a little sticker chart. The real move is just going to a shop that doesn't tolerate that stuff.
