Went to a con Sunday and nobody was digging through the long boxes

Hit up the Raleigh Comic Expo this past weekend. Maybe 200 people in the room. I saw a guy maybe 20 years old pick up a Fantastic Four 252 that was marked $15, flip through it, and put it back. Young collectors are all about graded slabs and covers they can put on a wall. They don't want to smell the old paper or find a hidden gem in a 50 cent bin. I must have spent 2 hours just going through two long boxes of 90s junk and found a run of Starman I didn't have. Is the hunt part of the hobby dying, or is it just the older crowd here in NC that still cares?

Funny you mention the dig, my local shop has a guy who brings a flashlight and magnifying glass to check every corner of every dollar bin like he's hunting for treasure. He once found a misprint that paid his mortgage, I swear. That kind of patience might be rare, but as long as there's a box with a "junk" label, there's always gonna be someone like us willing to get dusty.
