Got called out for my sloppy umbilical management on a bridge job last month
Honestly, my dive partner straight up told me my hose bundle looked like a 'sea snake nest' after a silt out. He said I was adding at least 10 minutes to every job just fighting my own gear. So I started using the double-wrap and clip method he showed me, keeping the comms line separate. Ngl, it felt dumb at first but my last two dives in the Duwamish went way smoother. Has anyone else had a simple piece of feedback that totally fixed a bad habit you didn't even know you had?

Read an article once that called it 'task blindness'. You get so focused on the main job that your own setup becomes background noise. A fresh set of eyes is the fastest fix for that.

Notice how the simplest advice often fixes the biggest headaches. My old boss used to say we get so used to our own mess we stop seeing it. Having someone point out a better way feels like a gift.

Yeah that "task blindness" thing @ray_burns60 mentioned is so real. My buddy was always fumbling with his backup light on night dives. Another guy just told him to clip it to his shoulder D-ring instead of his waist. Total game changer, he said it was like someone turned a light on.
