Hot take: I called surface supplied diving a money pit until I ran 120 feet of umbilical in the Gulf back in '09
Burned through two grand in gear that first season and swore it was a scam, but once I stopped humping tanks down a 90 foot ladder at 3 in the morning and could talk to the tender the whole time, I got it, so what finally won you over on a rig you used to hate?
Same here, I hated the idea of being tied to a hose until I did a job in 60 feet of murky water and could actually hear my tender tell me my line was fouled before I even felt it. Being able to just talk instead of tapping on your helmet like an idiot changes everything. What finally sold you, the talking or the not hauling tanks?
