I finally switched from my old Kirby Morgan hat to a Divex helmet for shallow work

I was doing a lot of bridge inspections in the Mobile River, maybe 30 feet max, and the Kirby just felt heavy and slow to set up. The Divex system, especially the UltraLite, is way faster to get in and out of for those short, repetitive dives. The comms are also a lot clearer, which is huge when you're calling out measurements. Anyone else made a switch like this for lighter duty jobs?

That weight difference is a game changer for repetitive dives. How's the neck strain after a full day with the new helmet compared to the old one? Clear comms must make the paperwork way easier too.

Yeah the neck thing is huge. My old rig felt like a cinderblock by lunch. Totally get what @iris_thomas85 means about the stiffness. First day with the new helmet I forgot I was even wearing it for a solid hour. Comms are so clean now I just do my voice notes straight into the report.

Honestly, how did we ever use those old tanks? The neck thing is way better, like maybe 70% less stiff by the end of the day. And you're right, the clear audio means I can actually get the reports done right after the dive instead of guessing what was said.
