Just realized the 'sunken treasure' I spotted off Key West was actually a 1970s washing machine.
I was on a hull inspection job last Tuesday and nearly called the boss over the comms before I got close enough to see the agitator, which honestly made the whole dive funnier.

That's actually kind of sad, a piece of history lost. Old appliances tell a story about how people lived back then. Should have left it as a mystery.

Ugh, I feel that. I once threw out a weird old toaster that could only cook one side of the bread at a time. My own personal history is now just a mystery about why I ate so many warm, floppy slices.

Know the feeling, got excited about a "shipwreck" near Catalina that turned out to be a stack of old tires. That slow realization just kills the buzz.

That thing about "a piece of history lost" is where I gotta disagree. Sometimes a washing machine is just a washing machine, you know? Not everything has to be some deep story about the past, sometimes it's just garbage someone dumped in the ocean.
